Cosmetics and Household Chemicals Producers' Association was founded in the middle of the year 2000. The establishment of the Association was urged by several reasons:

  • there was no associated institution representing interests of cosmetics and household chemicals producers/importers in Lithuania until 2000;
  • willingness to take active participation in the public life and in the process of harmonisation of legislation during the Lithuania's integration to the European Union period;
  • great wish to influence the provision of more favourable business conditions and to eliminate market restrictions and restraints upon business.

The Association is active in drafting and discussing of the laws concerning and related to cosmetics and household chemicals producers/importers; through our representatives involved into legislation drafting groups at different ministries and the Seimas (Parliament) we can consider proposals from the Association members and influence amendments to the existing laws accordingly.

Association members are constantly updated about the new laws passed, bills under drafting. The Association welcomes proposals from its every member. Summarised and generalised opinion of the Association members is then introduced and protected in all public institutions. Association members are constantly informed about cosmetics and household chemicals related exhibitions and other events both in Lithuania and abroad.

In the middle of 2002 year we joined international association A.I.S.E. (Brussels, Belgium), that represents the soap, detergent and maintenance industry and national associations of 30 countries. A.I.S.E. acting as the voice of the industry in Europe.

When Lithuania joined European Union, our association was invited to join COLIPA - the European cosmetic, toiletry and perfumery association and from 2004 we are full members of COLIPA. Working together with European institutions, NGOs and other industry sectors, COLIPA is committed to contribute to the regulatory framework in the best interests, innovations and competitiveness.

In 2004 it was decided to change our association's name adding word "Lithuanian" because association represents Lithuanian producers and importers internationally. Also it was decided to use abbreviation LIKOCHEMA.

The Association seeks to unite as many as possible foreign and local cosmetics and household chemicals producers and importers in order to successfully represent their interests and influence business related decisions of public institutions. This is possible only through common efforts and determination.
